Can I take photos on my phone?
Yes, absolutely. Guests are welcome to take personal photos and videos using mobile phones, compact cameras, and small action cameras. We simply ask that you stay mindful of other guests and avoid interrupting weddings, private events, or dining areas.
What counts as professional photography?
Professional photography includes the use of DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras, medium-format cameras, and large-format cameras. Equipment such as tripods, monopods, lighting tools, stabilisers, reflectors, drones, and multiple lenses is also considered professional.
If your equipment is typically used for portfolio, commercial, or social media content creation, it falls under our professional photography category.
Do I need a permit to use a DSLR or mirrorless camera?
Yes. Any professional-grade camera or equipment requires a Photography Permit, which must be arranged in advance.
How do I apply for a Photography Permit?
You can request a permit by contacting our Reception or Events Team at enquiry@marnongestate.com. We’ll help arrange suitable times, approved areas, and any necessary approvals. Or you can speak to our reception team who can arrange in some cases a permit on the day depending on other bookings.
Is there a fee for Photography Permits?
Yes. Permit fees support guest privacy, estate maintenance, and the coordination of activities across the property. Costs vary depending on the nature of your shoot.
Can I take photos anywhere on the property with a permit?
Permit holders may access designated photography areas only. This helps us ensure the safety, privacy, and comfort of all guests—especially during weddings and private events.
Can I take wedding or engagement photos at Marnong Estate?
Yes, with a valid Photography Permit. Please reach out to our team to check availability and approved locations.
Can I film or record videos?
Personal video recording on mobile phones is allowed. Professional video equipment, however, requires a permit.
Are drones allowed?
Drone use is not permitted unless you have written approval from Marnong Estate Management. Approved operators must hold CASA certification along with public liability and indemnity insurance.
What if I accidentally bring my professional camera without a permit?
No problem — our team will kindly ask you to leave your equipment in your car and continue taking photos with your mobile phone instead. You are always welcome to apply for a permit for a future visit.
