Our 2020 vintage will be one to remember! This is the first year we’ll be producing our full range of eight wines all made from 100% Marnong Estate grown grapes.

The Marnong Estate Wines 2020 vintage will include a Sparkling Brut, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. And, in a nod to our Italian influence, a Fiano and Montepulciano will also feature in the range. These varietals all grow very well in our region and each has its own uniqueness in character and flavour.

As a new world-class tourism facility it’s a significant milestone that we’ll soon be able to share the fruits of our labour with you.

Sunbury has a great history of producing wine, particularly Cabernet and Shiraz. We are proud to be part of the future of grape-growers and winemakers in the region.

The 11 hectares of vineyard plantings first took place only 4 years ago. Shiraz was first in, planted on our most southerly blocks during 2016. These initial 3.5 hectares were followed by the other varietals in 2017.

While the vines are still young at only 3-4 years old, they have experienced vigorous growth and exceptional yields. The best fruit is set to be harvested from the first week of March through to early April.

You can read our Vineyard Manager Ray Guerin’s 2020 vintage report in our blog post here.

The first of 2020 Marnong Estate Wines are set to be released later in the year. Expect Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and sparkling wine to be available initially, with other wines such as our Shiraz to be released in 2021.
